There are times of the year when you are more susceptible to illness than others, namely the annual flu season. However, cases of virus and infection occur year-round, so why not be prepared.

To help you stay healthy all the time, wello® founder Rik Heller and creator of the welloStation™ fever detection and infection control solution extended his mission to stop the spread of infection with welloWatch™. The free mobile app is available on iOS and Android platforms. It tracks the risk of infection spread by monitoring indoor humidity levels and using those factors to predict days when infection risk is at its peak. No matter where you are in the world, with cellular access, you will know whether your local conditions are conducive to disease spread.

The welloWatch™ app is important because it can help you and your workforce stay healthy all year round, by being aware of conditions that may increase the likelihood that you could become ill,” noted Mr. Heller. He continued by explaining the science behind humidity and your body’s immunity, “welloWatch™ monitors indoor humidity levels because you are more susceptible to infection if indoor humidity levels drop below 50%. Monitoring data for early signs of infection spread risk is critical.”

app-empty-1.pngThe app uses a simple infection spread scale indicator of red, yellow
, and green.  Red being the most severe for disease spread and human susceptibility, yellow being average risk and green being the lowest.   Drier air encourages viruses to spread, so keeping your indoor humidity levels at 50 percent is ideal for infection control and prevention.

For those who travel, this is an indispensible app. Your immune system is at greatest risk when you travel and humidity levels fluctuate. In northern climates, humidity levels often drop below 35 percent, causing infectious water droplets exhaled in a single breath to exist in tact for several hours.

When you see a “red” welloWatch™ condition, take extra precautions by keeping your relative humidity level at 50 percent, this can be accomplished by adding a humidifier to your office. Also, stay well hydrated as drier conditions make your immune system work harder to fight infection.

In closing Mr. Heller encourages everyone to take a step to prevent workplace illness. “It’s better not to go to work sick, instead stay home and recover. You’ll feel better and you’ll keep your coworkers healthier too.”

However; you will waste all your fun vacation days.
